EXCLUSIVE: True Blood is adding a new vampire for its seventh and final season. Riley Smith (90210) is set for a major recurring role. He will play Keith, a sexy, rock ‘n’ roll vampire with a romantic side. A drummer in James’ (Nathan Parson) band, he becomes smitten with Arlene (Carrie Preston) on first sight. Smith, repped by Gersh and Sanders/Armstrong/Caserta, is a regular in Lifetime’s original movie/backdoor pilot Deliverance Creek from Nicholas Sparks Productions. The film has no airdate yet but is expected to premiere later this year, with the project still in series contention as backdoor pilot.

EXCLUSIVE: UK sales outfit 7 & 7 Producers’ Sales Service has boarded sales on US romantic comedy Shirin in Love, written and directed by Ramin Niami.
Set in the affluent Iranian-American community in Beverly Hills, the film stars Nazanin Boniadi as a quirky twenty-something who, on the eve of her wedding, causes turmoil for her family when an enigmatic handsome outsider opens her eyes to a different world.
Amy Madigan co-stars with comedians Maz Jobrani and George Wallace.
Producer Karen Robson said: “Shirin in Love will be widely distributed in US theatres in early 2014 as a co-release with AMC Independent and we have produced a superb Farsi dubbed version that will also screen in select US cities and will be available to foreign distributors.”
The film is due to get its first market screening at the EFM in Berlin.

Written by Melissa Carter and directed by Jon Amiel, it centers on Belle (Lauren Ambrose) who attempts to defend her family’s land by any means necessary and is pushed into becoming an outlaw by the corrupt bank that runs their town. Smith, repped by Gersh & Sanders/Armstrong/Casert, plays Toby, Belle’s old beau who he jilted and left her to marry a man she didn’t love. He’ll next be seen on Beauty & The Beast.

Ausiello: Da, I have! TVLine has confirmed that 90210 alum Riley Smith will appear in Episodes 7 and 8 as “The Bombmaker,” a sophisticated, hired assassin with a specialty in explosives — and a particular vengeance against beasts such as Vincent.
Riley will be returning to The CW with a recurring guest role on “Beauty and the Beast”. Riley will first appear in the 7th episode, and more information about his character will be added when it becomes available. Congratulations Riley! We’re looking forward to seeing you on the show. The new season of “Beauty and the Beast” premieres Monday, October 7th at 9/8c on The CW.

Canon’s Project Imaginat10n Film Contest, the cameramaker’s user-generated contest designed to inspire short films based on crowdsourced photos, has announced five winning directors.
Ron Howard, Bryce Dallas Howard and a panel of judges narrowed the list of 20 finalists down to five. The project also invited Eva Longoria, Jamie Foxx, Georgina Chapman, Biz Stone and James Murphy to direct short films based on the photos.
One of the winners is Julian Higgins, who directed “Here and Now” (pictured above) starring Abigail Spencer and Josh Pence.
Another winner, sci-fi “Day in the Country” by Kalman Apple, stars Shannon Lucio, Riley Smith and Craig Stark.
The three other winners are “Dominus” by Arrius Sorbonne, “Chucked” by Jared Nelson and “Filter” by Ronnie Allman.
The five films will screen along with those directed by celebrity directors at the Canon Project Imaginat10n Film Festival as part of “The Ron Howard Presentation” later this fall.
